At DISA, as we expand internationally, we want to take an inclusive, universal view while respecting local laws, markets, and customs. One example of this is in our differing Holiday policies for the 3 countries where we currently have employees.
- Practically, DISA provides Paid Holidays to our employees because it is a key driver of employee attraction and retention. Philosophically, it also aligns with our core values of Find Balance and Do the Right Thing.
- In the U.S., we have identified 11 Paid Holidays though there is no legal requirement for that; it’s just a best-practice and the right thing to do. For 2024, we are making a small change to the holiday schedule and replacing the Good Friday holiday with a Personal Day similar to DISA Day. Employees will have the choice of 1 of 3 days to take (with approval so that we ensure business needs are met) each year- their birthday, their anniversary, or a spiritual/religious holiday that is significant to them.
- In Canada, where there are legal requirements about Paid Public Holidays, we’ve aligned to their local requirements and provided 11 Paid Holidays (10 required, plus DISA Day).
- Similarly, in Germany, there are also mandated Paid Public Holidays, and we have aligned our policy accordingly with 11 Paid Holidays (10 required, plus DISA Day).
- We’ve taken a similar approach/format to laying out our Holiday policies for each country; and have provided them on the Employee Portal for easy information sharing.
