Physical Abilities Exam Functional Capacity Evaluation

Ensure Employee Ability to Perform Work Activities

A Physical Abilities Exam assesses an individual’s ability to perform work activities. This can follow an injury or illness, or determine the individual’s ability to perform the functions that the job requires adequately. If an employee is injured on the job, they may be required to undergo a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), either by the company or their attorney. Depending on the industry, some jobs require more labor-intensive activities, and employers must determine whether an employee can safely perform the tasks being asked of them without compromising their health.
