Just as important as knowing the correct news, updates, and best practices around hiring, compliance, workplace safety, drug testing, or transportation programs is knowing who that information comes from.

On January 14, 2027, DISA Global Solutions will host more than 24 industry presenters at its 9th Annual HR Screening, Safety & Strategy Conference. Across 24 educational sessions in the Marriott Marquis Houston, attendees will hear from attorneys, regulatory and compliance professionals, toxicologists, transportation experts, HR leaders, occupational health professionals, and DISA subject matter experts working directly with many of the issues employers face every day.

Here are some of the experts joining us in Houston.

Background Screening and Employment Law Expertise

Pam Devata of Seyfarth Shaw LLP brings extensive experience at the intersection of employment law and background screening. Devata leads Seyfarth’s nationwide Background Screening, Litigation and Compliance Team and advises employers on the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), state screening requirements, criminal and credit history, and other issues affecting hiring programs.

Joe Beachboard of Beachboard Consulting Group is a nationally recognized employment attorney with more than 35 years of experience representing management in employment and labor matters. His session, “The Five Employment Law Trends Keeping Safety Professionals Up at Night,” will bring an employment-law perspective to the developing issues employers and safety teams need to have on their radar.

Drug Testing Experts Bring Legal, Scientific, and Policy Perspectives

Faye Caldwell of Caldwell Everson PLLC combines legal experience with a specialized focus on drug-testing issues. A former member of the federal Drug Testing Advisory Board, Caldwell works closely with toxicology and industry experts on the legal and scientific questions that can shape workplace testing programs. Her 2027 session, “Marijuana Policy Updates: Navigating a Changing Landscape,” will give listeners an opportunity to learn from her work.

The lineup also includes Jo McGuire, Executive Director of the National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association. McGuire has contributed her expertise to organizations and initiatives ranging from the Colorado Governor’s Task Force on Amendment 64 to international discussions on drug policy. She will close out the drug-testing track with “Drug Testing Today: Key Updates and Industry Perspectives.”

Transportation Leaders Focus on Regulation, Safety, and Driver Compliance

For motor carriers and employers managing DOT-regulated programs, Brenna Lyles, Vice President of Safety Policy for the American Trucking Associations, will bring her advocacy and policy portfolio to panels that address commercial motor vehicle safety, employer drug testing, marijuana reform, CDL standards, and carrier registration. At the conference, Lyles is scheduled to present “From Policy to Practice: ATA's Trucking Regulatory Update.”

Few speakers bring the same combination of regulatory and operational experience as Juan J. Moya. His federal transportation career spans more than two decades, including work with both the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. At FMCSA, Moya served as Drug and Alcohol Program Manager for a national program covering approximately four million commercial drivers and contributed to initiatives including establishment of the Commercial Driver’s License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. He will bring that experience to “Ensuring Your Commercial Driver is Qualified.”

HR and Occupational Health Leaders Look Ahead

Ciera Parks, CEO of CWC HR Solutions & Training, brings 15 years of HR experience across industries including higher education, manufacturing, nonprofit, e-commerce, and technology. Her work focuses on helping organizations strengthen workplace culture and develop people strategies that support business performance; Ciera will give HR professionals an opportunity to consider some of the fastest-changing areas affecting the profession. Parks will lead “Artificial Intelligence in HR: What Leaders Need to Know Now."

Dr. Kim Olszewski, current Director of Medical Services at DISA and former president of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, brings deep experience in occupational health. She is an ANCC board-certified adult nurse practitioner and a Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and Case Manager, with years of experience presenting on topics affecting workforce health and safety. Her session, “One Goal, Different Requirements: Occupational Health Across Safety-Sensitive Industries,” will explore an area where employer responsibilities can vary significantly by industry and workforce.

DISA’s Own Compliance and Workforce Experts Share Insights

The 2027 program will also give attendees direct access to DISA professionals who work with employers and compliance programs every day.

Among them is Chad Ascar, DISA’s Director of Compliance Integration, who brings more than a decade of background-screening experience and has previously served on the board of the Professional Background Screening Association.
