Driving licence checks are particularly relevant for roles where a valid driving licence is a requirement, such as lorry drivers, taxi drivers, couriers and delivery drivers. They are also important during recruitment and for employees who regularly drive as part of their role, including home care workers, service technicians, installers, electricians, plumbers, property maintenance staff, field technicians and salespeople with company cars.
Most Swedish driving licences are valid for 10 years. Licences with higher categories, such as those required to drive heavy goods vehicles and buses, are normally valid for 5 years.
However, the validity period of the physical driving licence does not necessarily mean that the holder's driving entitlements will remain unchanged throughout that period. A driving licence can, for example, be revoked, which is why ongoing driving licence checks can be relevant for employers.
Once the candidate has uploaded a clear copy of their driving licence, the check normally takes less than one working day, provided that no discrepancies or uncertainties are identified.
If the image is unclear or the check identifies a discrepancy, additional information or a new copy may be required. In these cases, the process may take longer.
