Identity verification is a fundamental part of DISA’s background screening services. We verify identities through checks of passports, national ID cards, driving licences and residence permits – both nationally and internationally.

Verifying a candidate’s identity is about more than checking an ID document. It helps ensure that the entire recruitment process is based on the right person.

Mitek is an international provider of digital identity verification solutions and verifies the authenticity and validity of identity documents using advanced technology.
DISA has worked with Mitek for many years to verify identity documents. Mitek also checks whether passports or ID cards appear in the VIS (Verification Identification System) and international KLPD and Interpol databases for lost or stolen documents.

- The candidate verifies their identity digitally via DISA’s secure platform
- Passports, national ID cards or residence permits are photographed directly in the mobile device or uploaded via computer
- The identity document is verified with support from DISA’s partner Mitek
- The verification includes checks of the document’s authenticity and validity
- Verification is also carried out against the VIS register to identify documents reported as lost or stolen
- The identity verification process can be complemented with digital identity verification using facial recognition to ensure the document belongs to the right person
- The result is compiled in DISA’s screening report

ID verification in line with GDPR guidelines
DISA helps organisations carry out identity verification with secure handling of personal data and documentation in accordance with applicable data protection regulations and GDPR.
To support compliance with GDPR and applicable data protection requirements, images of identity documents are deleted from DISA’s systems within 14 days after the ID verification has been completed.
