However, online searches can uncover information that is irrelevant to the role, difficult to verify, or inappropriate to use as part of a hiring decision. Because these searches also involve the processing of personal data, they should be carried out in a structured and GDPR-compliant manner.

A structured and compliant screening process

DISA provides a structured and efficient process for social media and online presence screening. Candidates submit their information through our background screening platform, after which the screening is conducted in accordance with established procedures and applicable data protection requirements. The results are compiled into a report that is shared with both the employer and the candidate.

  • Step 1: Log in

    Fill in your personal username and password.

  • Step 2: Select a screening profile

    Select the right screening profile for this candidate.

  • Step 3: Enter the candidate's details

    The candidate's name, email address, and cell phone number are requested.

  • Step 4: Candidate provides information

    The candidate receives an email with their login details and a request to start their own pre-employment screening.

  • Step 5: Screening is processed

    DISA will process the screening and complete all background checks.

  • Step 6: Screening is complete.

    Both you and the candidate will receive a message that the screening report is completed and ready to download.

All potential matches are reviewed manually by our screening consultants. If we cannot establish with a high degree of confidence that the information relates to the candidate, it will not be reported as a finding.

The indexed web consists of websites that can be found through standard search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. The dark web is a part of the internet that is not indexed by search engines and requires specialised software to access. Enhanced screening includes searches across both the indexed web and the dark web.

No. DISA only reviews publicly available information. We do not have any special access rights to information that is not available to the general public. Private accounts, password-protected websites and other restricted content are therefore not included in the screening.

Yes. The screening covers publicly available online sources, which may include news articles, forums, blogs, social media platforms and other websites where information about the candidate appears.

Standard Screening is typically completed within one business day. Enhanced Screening, which also includes dark web searches, is normally completed within approximately 72 hours.

Yes. The results are shared simultaneously with both the employer and the candidate through the screening report. This helps ensure a transparent process and gives candidates visibility into the information that has been reported.

All potential findings are reviewed manually by our screening consultants before they are reported. Where a finding is included in the report, links to the relevant sources are also provided, allowing the employer to review the information directly.
