Oral Fluid Swab 1200

DYK Oral Fluid

Did you know that DISA offers Oral Fluid Testing?

DISA’s oral fluid drug testing services offer FDA-approved onsite swabs which are fully observed, collected, then sent to the lab for screening and confirmation. This also reduces tampering, shy bladder, and any donor challenge later in the screening process. Additionally, when oral fluid drug testing is combined with another drug testing method, such as hair-based testing, employers can create a wider detection window as oral fluid detects more recent use, while others provide a longer window.

What is oral fluid drug testing?

Oral fluid testing, or “saliva” testing, collects a sample from the donor using an oral swab, detecting drugs and metabolites sometimes within 15 minutes. Unlike other forms of drug testing, oral fluid is fully observed and features a short detection window, detecting current usage up to two days following the initial use. Currently, there is no means of detecting impairment, but with the extremely shortened drug detection window for oral fluid, employers can detect if the drug use was recent, like blood testing, but easier and less invasive.

Oral Fluid Testing Laws by State

Oral Fluid laws are inconsistent across all 50 states, making things a bit confusing at times. To keep up with the ever-changing laws, DISA has provided an interactive map for employers to get a quick, high-level overview of considerations that should be considered before using oral fluid tests in each state.
