The Statement of integrity is an easy way to foresee risk management

DISA offers an integrity statement to provide insight into the candidate’s behaviour. A (potential) employee is asked to truthfully answer an online questionnaire and then sign it as a guarantee.

An integrity statement is a simple way to manage risk. Especially when this check is supplemented with other background checks. For example, a certificate of conduct which examines the possible criminal background of an (potential) employee is a complementary check.

An integrity statement can provide, the following insights:

  • Insight into possible financial risks
  • Insight into the secondary functions and activities that a (potential) employee fulfils
  • Insight into involvement in criminal matters

Questions that contribute to these insights include, ‘Have you been convicted or a suspect in criminal proceedings related to a crime or economic offence?’ or ‘Do you perform additional activities such as voluntary work, board positions at foundations or associations, or part-time work for other employers?’ These questions can usually be answered with yes/no and in case of a deviant answer, there is an option for the (potential) employee to explain.

The answers to an integrity statement are always stored securely. The (potential) employee is asked to answer and sign the statement of integrity within their personal online account. DISA will never process the statement via post, email, or telephone. This prevents answers from being viewed  by unauthorised individuals.

The answers to the Statement of integrity are stored in one central place. The results can also be found in the screening report created after the employment screening is complete. Both the (potential) employee and the employer can review and download the report in their online account.

An additional advantage of an online integrity statement is that the questionnaire within the personal online account can be answered anywhere and at any time. The (potential) employee can log in using a desktop computer or mobile device including, tablet or mobile phone. Due to this responsive feature, DISA ensures a shorter processing time which benefits the entire employment screening.
