November 5, 2025
During December, we will implement a few compliance and reporting enhancements that may affect some of your services. These changes, while minor, are designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our services. We believe they will go unnoticed by most clients, but we encourage you to review the information below and contact us if you have questions or need additional information.
Sex Offender Registry
For compliance purposes, we will note if an individual is listed on the state’s sex offender registry—no additional information will be listed in this section of the report. Reportable criminal activity associated with the sex offender findings may be available in the criminal and public records portion of our report.
Statewide Searches for MS and WV
Due to the limited coverage provided by statewide criminal searches for Mississippi and West Virginia, which do not meet our quality standards, we have decided to discontinue this service. We recommend clients use county-level searches in these states to receive the most accurate and comprehensive information.
Criminal Public Records Reporting
The industry’s standard scope for reporting felonies and misdemeanors is seven (7) years based on available and confirmed information. Some high-volume clients with regulatory or industry compliance standards may have extended scopes that will not change.
- Felony convictions, the reporting scope will be based on the date of disposition or, if our researchers can confirm it, the release from incarceration. While we attempt to confirm incarceration release dates, this information is not always available in all states and jurisdictions.
- Misdemeanor convictions, the reporting scope will be based only on the disposition date.
- Non-convictions (e.g., dismissals) will not be reported. We will continue to report pending/open records where allowable.
- Sub-criminal information (e.g., citations, infractions, and traffic violations) will not be reported unless those violations involve drug/alcohol-related offenses.
Again, these changes are part of our ongoing efforts to improve the effectiveness and compliance of your screening program. If you have questions or need help with your account, please contact us here.
As always, we appreciate and value your loyalty.
