Checking employees’ driving licences for authenticity

As an employer, you are responsible for the actions of your employees. Therefore, it is important that if your employees are going to be on the road – they need to have a valid driving licence in their pocket. Whether a truck driver, a crane operator or an ambulance driver, we check all types of driving licences.

To check a driving licence for authenticity and validity, we work with our data partner Mitek. Mitek is an international leader in software solutions for digital identification. They check identity documents for authenticity and validity. In the Netherlands, a driving licence is not a valid proof of identity in all cases, but in other countries it sometimes is. This is why we offer a separate driving licence check.

When the candidate uploads a copy of their driving license in DISA's international platform, it must meet quality requirements. For example, the copy must not be overexposed or blurred. Next, the candidate must indicate in which country the driving licence was issued and whether his/her licence has ever been stolen or missing.

In addition, Mitek checks whether a passport, ID card or driving licence appears in the VIS (Verification Identification System) register and/or in international lists of KLPD and Interpol. These registers include all documents previously reported stolen or missing.

Our data partner uses algorithms to verify authenticity. In addition, an expert also looks at the driving licence. As a result, international driving licences can also be checked with us.

When a qualitative copy of the driving licence is uploaded by the candidate, no discrepancies are found by the algorithm and the expert does not doubt the driving licence, the turnaround time is less than one working day.

When the copy is not qualitative, a new copy is requested and then the process will be delayed. The process is also delayed when discrepancies and/or doubts do arise on a driving licence.
