Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong recently announced plans to reduce the city-state’s workplace fatality rate to less than one fatality per 100,000 workers by 2028.
The opioid epidemic is a growing issue within our nation, and when it comes to the workplace, substance abuse factors into many other issues that could be costing the employer. DISA works with clients to ensure safety in the workplace in order to prevent such losses, or substantial impacts to your business.
This past month several DISA representatives attended the Substance Abuse Program Administrators Association (SAPAA) annual conference. During the event, Current Consulting made a presentation which included a national and industry wide survey. We are proud to report that DISA and University Services (a DISA owned company) ranked #1 in Brand Recognition for our respective categories (TPA and MRO). This marks two years in a row for University Services.
At DISA, we make it a priority to be aware of advancements within the transportation industry, because we need to know how we can best work within DOT regulations and requirements to provide hiring tools that keep our trucking logistics partners doing what is necessary to comply. But some go beyond regulatory compliance to advance driver safety standards, protect trucking line revenue and avoid unnecessary liability.
Hiring new employees is a challenging, time-consuming process, and it’s further complicated by the possibility that candidates may be impaired by drug use. To help mitigate the risk of hiring drug users and to increase workplace safety and productivity, many employers adopt drug screening programs. Hair and urinalysis drug testing are two of the most common forms of screening. Knowing which method to choose can be confusing for companies who want to ensure they’re making the best decision for their organization.
We’re proud to announce that our very own Lynn Ward, MRO Director of University Services, has been elected to the SAPAA board! Here at DISA Global Solutions, we take pride in the talented individuals who we employ.
People grappling with pain often seek sanctuary within opioid pill bottles. Opioids are synthetic pain-management drugs, the most common of which are oxycodone, hydrocodone and fentanyl. Much like their natural opiate counterparts—morphine, opium, codeine and heroin, all of which are derived from poppy seeds—they bind to the opioid receptors in the brain and keep messages of pain from being delivered to the body, removing the sensation of pain for the user and replacing it with a sensation of comfort and bliss.
DISA and the Current Consulting Group (CCG) are pleased to announce that they have partnered in order to deliver a SAPAA Institute Training Course prior to the 2017 SAPAA Conference. Please join Dr. Donna Smith, CCG's DFWP Best Practices Consultant, on Tuesday, August 22nd from 8-10 am for a course on behalf of DISA entitled "Oil and Gas Pipeline Operators' Contractor Monitoring.”
