To test the integrity and reliability of a potential candidate or employee, a Certificate of Good Conduct, abbreviated VOG, is an important tool. With DISA's VOG check, we can make the application for a Certificate of Good Conduct simple and reliable.

DISA's VOG check

Requesting a Dutch certificate of conduct can be done quick and conveniently with DISA. With a certificate of conduct, a (potential) employee can prove that he or she has not committed any criminal offenses that could pose a risk to their future position and the organisation.

In certain sectors it is obliged by the law to have a recent certificate of conduct. For example, in the financial, education, health care, and child care sector. However, as an employer, you can also ask for a certificate of conduct if it is not obligated by law.

 

A (potential) employee can apply for a Dutch certificate of conduct through the municipality. DISA will then send a form via email within which the application can’t be submitted. If a (potential) employee has DigiD, both DISA and Justis will send an email with specific instructions for the online application of a certificate of conduct.

Request a VOG at Justis

After applying for a certificate of conduct at Justis, it takes two weeks on average for the document to be delivered by post. Justis sends the certificate to the home address of the (potential) employee. They must then make a scan or photo of the document and upload it to their personal account in DISA's online system. To make this action user-friendly for (potential) employees and to speed up this process, the photo can be taken directly via DISA's screening platform, after which it directly appears in the personal account.

Receive a VOG digitally

While applying for a VOG digitally, you can also choose to receive a VOG digitally. This saves a lot of time and is a lot more sustainable, as you are not dependent on the post and receive a PDF file via your Messages. A digital VOG is easier to submit digitally directly and can be validated by the client with a URL.

Applying for a certificate of conduct – both through the municipality and digitally – generally takes a long time. In order not to delay the screening process, DISA creates a preliminary version of the screening report whilst waiting for the certificate. All results from other checks from the profile are shown in this report, but without the VOG check. Once this document has been received by post and uploaded by the (potential) employee to their account, the document is added to the final screening report.

Although DISA assists in applying for a certificate of conduct, the (potential) employee remains responsible for completing the procedure. Therefore, it is important to encourage cooperation and to complete the steps in the application on time. Should there be a delay, DISA will continue to remind the (potential) employee to quickly complete the application.

Please note: The (potential) employee is often responsible to cover the costs for a VOG check (certificate of conduct).

The application for a certificate of conduct can be completed digitally via the Justis website. With a personal DigID and the instructions from the previously received email, a (potential) employee can apply for the certificate of conduct online. Quick and conveniently!
