DISA’s Compassionate Bereavement Leave Policy
Effective Date: October 11, 2023
Who Is Eligible?
All full-time DISA team members, even those who've joined us from acquisitions made before 9/1/2023, are eligible for this support from the very first day they join us. Our part-timers, you're not forgotten. While it may not be paid, you can definitely take the time you need.
How We Support:
Immediate Family – If life takes away a spouse, parent, child, sibling or anyone related via grand, half, step or in-law terms, please take up to five days off to mourn and heal.
Extended Family – For losses including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, or cousins, and their respective half, step and in-law versions, you can take up to three days.
Like Family – Those special neighbors, close friends, or even our fur family that fill our lives with joy, take a day to remember them when they pass.
Work Family – If a current or former DISA colleague departs, you're entitled to up to four hours off to attend their farewell.
A Little Flexibility:
We know family isn't just defined by blood or marriage. If someone who wasn't technically 'immediate' felt like a parent or sibling, chat with your manager. They have the discretion to adjust leave based on unique circumstances.
The Process:
Whenever you find the need for bereavement leave, reach out to your manager and HR partner. Just a heads up, we might need some verification, like a funeral program. And for the admin bits, we'll manage it through our HR system.
Payment Details:
Your bereavement leave is paid just like regular work hours, without affecting any overtime calculations.
Our Expectations:
We trust our DISA family to respect and adhere to this policy. If something doesn't align, it'll be treated with the seriousness it deserves, possibly leading to disciplinary actions or even legal measures.
